Dunfermline rallies against Tories’ attack on workers

SCOTLAND’S People’s Assembly will rally in Dunfermline today as part of the weekend of protest before the Tories’ conference in Manchester tomorrrow.

Fife People’s Assembly activist Tam Kirby said the event was a rallying call to “unite and mobilise communities” in their “common aim of reversing cuts and stopping the attacks on the poor and working people.”

He called for an “avalanche of people power” to defeat the Tories.

The event, dubbed Scotland United Against Poverty, will involve a march and rally as well as performances from local musicians and entertainment for children.

It is supported by the Scottish TUC and People’s Assembly Scotland.

Organisers are asking ­people to meet outside Marks & Spencer, High Street, ­Dunfermline, at noon today (Saturday) and make their way to Pittencrieff Park where the rally and gala will take place.
