POLICE in Norfolk are hunting a pensioner who attempted to hold up a bank at gunpoint.

The suspect, described has being in his 60s or 70s with receding grey hair and a beard, threatened staff with what appeared to be a firearm, a police spokesman said.

The incident happened at a branch of TSB in the High Street at Holt, north Norfolk, at about 3pm on Thursday.

The cashier refused to hand over the money and the man left empty handed.

Det Insp Graeme Talbot said: “No staff member was hurt but they were obviously surprised and upset by what happened.

“This was an unusual and isolated incident which was over very quickly but it is important we identify this individual at the earliest opportunity.”

The man, who was wearing a distinctive white, cream, blue and black stripy jumper and dark trousers, was caught on CCTV.

Anyone with information is asked to call Great Yarmouth CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
