BRITAIN-BASED communist parties condemned Israeli military aggression against Gaza today and reaffirmed their solidarity with Palestine.

“This new onslaught against the Palestinian people is one more example of Israel’s illegal policy of collective punishment and coincides with heinous crimes perpetrated by zionist settlers in the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories,” said the Co-ordinating Committee of Communist Parties in Britain.

The communists slammed Washington’s “flagrant” backing of Israel, “both in covering up its crimes and its utter disregard for international law and the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people.”

They demanded an immediate halt to Israeli aggression, urgent UN action to protect Palestinians, liberation of all political prisoners from Israeli prisons, demolition of the apartheid wall, an end to illegal settlements, the right of return for Palestinians and a Palestinian state on 1967 borders, with east Jerusalem as its capital.

The committee includes parties from Britain, Iran, Greece, Sudan, Chile, India, Iraq and Palestine.
