Welsh Assembly Members were welcomed back to Cardiff Bay from recess yesterday with a Unison petition for fairer public-sector pay.
Low-paid local government workers sat on the steps of the Senedd with umbrellas spelling out “fair pay now.”
The petition was handed to Plaid Cymru’s Bethan Jenkins.
She was one of a number of other Plaid and Labour AMs who came out to support the workers.
Unison head of local government Dominic MacAskill said: “Local government workers are not asking for an excessive rise, they are merely calling for fair pay, and surely they deserve that?”
