A TORY councillor was accused of sabotaging an anti-TTIP campaign yesterday by taking down dozens of “for sale” style signs protesting against the unpopular trade deal overnight.
Hundreds of people put the People’s NHS group’s Stop the Sale boards outside their homes, but the signs in Balham, south London, were removed in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The group erected the boards in nine constituencies to oppose the pro-privatisation deal being thrashed out between the EU and US behind closed doors.
People’s NHS spokesman Brian Colman said a local Conservative councillor was to blame and the campaign group is seeking legal advice.
“The Tory councillor had no right to take down our boards which were on residents’ property,” he said.
“It’s an outrage and we will be taking the appropriate action.
“This is a clear message to our MP and to the government that it’s time to take the ‘for sale’ sign down from our hospitals and GP services and put our cherished NHS back into public hands.”
