ISRAEL won’t be allowed to play host to any European football “until further notice,” Uefa has ruled.
European football’s governing body told Maccabi Tel Aviv, Hapoel Tel Aviv and Hapoel Be’er Sheva to find alternative home venues for their home legs in the 2014/15 Champions League and Europa League.
Uefa’s emergency panel made the decision on Wednesday, making it public yesterday.
The panel also decided that Russian and Ukrainian teams shouldn’t be drawn against each other.
The fascist-backed junta in Kiev has stoked anti-Russian sentiments in Ukraine, while Moscow has voiced limited support for rebels in the east wary of the coup-installed government.
It means FC Zenit and Dnipro will be prevented from being pitted together when the Champions League third qualifying round draw is made later today.
Following an analysis of the security situation, the panel also ruled that Uefa club competition matches may be played in Dnipropetrovsk and Odessa, in addition to Kiev and Lviv.
