London Bees 2-2 Yeovil
by Danielle Lowe
As Yeovil landed at The Hive yesterday they were confident a win was on the cards and would help keep their promotion chances alive but left with only a point after a 2-2 draw.
In third place in Women’s Super League 2, Yeovil had everything to play for against second-from-bottom London Bees, who were still desperately trying to find consistent winning form to avoid relegation.
By half-time the visiting side were a goal up thanks to Natasha Knapman, who was able to control the ball to slide it past the Bees keeper Sophie Harris.
But the Bees, who had several first-half chances, must have had a stern talking to at the break.
As just minutes after the second half got underway Paula Howells launched herself at a through ball and once on the end of it found the back of the net, giving the Bees a chance to get a much needed point.
Yeovil refused to give two precious points away without a fight though, and just minutes after coming on as a substitute Shauna Cossens put them back ahead.
It quickly escalated into goals galore at The Hive as Andrea Georgiou maximised, knowing how important even just a point will be for them, on a free-kick to bring them back level.
The Glovers and Bees kept pushing hard to get a win and strengthen their points tally but neither side could come away with more than a draw.
