NHS activists continue anti-Clegg banner drops

SHEFFIELD campaigners continued their “banner drop” action yesterday against local MP and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg for his support for the privatisation of the NHS.

Protesters in Mr Clegg’s Sheffield Hallam constituency highlighted his backing for the controversial Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), which will force European countries to open up all public services — including the NHS — to privatisation.

Prime Minister David Cameron has refused to use his veto to exclude the NHS from TTIP regulations.

Yesterday, students and Peoples’ NHS supporters displayed a giant protest banner at Sheffield’s Victoria Hall.

“Nick Clegg has outright refused to stop the irreversible privatisation of our NHS,” said student Lee Holland.

“Unlike Nick Clegg, Sheffield students and the People’s NHS are not prepared to sit back and watch the sell-off of our NHS to US corporations.”
