CRIME: G4S knew of screening failures months before an armed guard murdered two colleagues in Iraq, a BBC documentary has alleged.
Danny Fitzsimons was sentenced to at least 20 years in 2011 for killing Paul McGuigan and Darren Hoare in Baghdad in August 2009.
But a Scotland 2014 investigation screened last night said its team had seen a leaked copy of the firm’s internal report, showing that the company had found major flaws in its screening of candidates for armed contracts during multiple audits in March that year.
The victims’ families have called for a public inquiry.
COURT: Rolf Harris made sketches while in the dock while listening to allegations that he indecently assaulted young women, Southwark Crown Court heard yesterday.
Mr Justice Sweeney said he had the sketches destroyed before Mr Harris went on to describe one of his alleged victims as “flirtatious.”
The artist and TV star faces 12 counts of indecent assault on four alleged victims between 1968 and 1986, all of which he denies.
ELECTIONS: The polling watchdog said yesterday that it would investigate the vote count in Tower Hamlets after long delays and accusations of intimidation outside polling stations.
Some politicians said they witnessed crowds shouting at people as they arrived to cast their votes and leaflets were also allegedly left behind in booths to influence voters at the last minute.
