Quinn gives Dons a record start

Aberdeen 2-1 Celtic — Scottish Premiership: Paul Quinn’s dramatic late winner against Celtic at Pittodrie yesterday set a club record for Aberdeen and blew open the Scottish Premiership title race.

Striker Leigh Griffiths gave the Parkhead side the lead in the 35th minute, but that was cancelled by Adam Rooney’s spot-kick on 56 minutes.

Defender Quinn’s late strike from close range made it 2-1 and six successive league wins for the Dons at the start of a season for the first time.

Things fall apart for QPR after red card

QPR 1-2 Notts Forest — Championship: Sub Nelson Oliveira scored a late winner on his debut yesterday as Nottingham Forest came from behind at Loftus Road.

Charlie Austin put QPR ahead on 65 minutes, but it fell apart when keeper Rob Green pulled down Chris O’Grady and Henri Lansbury scored the penalty.

Minutes later, Ryan Mendes collected O’Grady’s header and released on-loan Benfica forward Oliveira, whose shot took a slight deflection off Nedum Onuoha into the net.

‘Give clubs subs’

FOOTBALL: Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri suggested yesterday that Premier League clubs be allowed 22 players in matchday squads to give more experience to young players.

The Italian pointed to his country’s Serie A, which allows 12 subs to be listed.
