Epsom targeted by union protesters

Anti-blacklisting activists targeted Epsom race course to shame Gayle Burton, formerly of construction firm Costain, yesterday.

Burton was named for her part in blacklisting 162 construction workers. Gayle Burton is currently employed by the Jockey Club at Epsom.

Costain has 313 mentions in the Consulting Association’s blacklist files and 162 of the entries have the initials GB — Gayle Burton — next to them.

The demonstrations are part of a rolling programme of protests involving general unions GMB and Unite and construction union Ucatt who are fighting for justice and compensation for more than 3,200 construction workers blacklisted for trades union and health and safety activities by the disgraced Consulting Association.

Individual bosses in the industry have been identified as part of the blacklisting system.
