TORY attacks on the NHS have left three-quarters of England’s hospitals “not safe enough,” the Care Quality Commission says in a report published today.
Understaffing and the drafting in of temporary staff were identified as two of the causes of the problems, according to the government watchdog.
The commission said 61 per cent of hospitals “require improvement” and 13 per cent are “inadequate” for safety.
Inspectors visited half of England’s hospitals, and found that the problems existed despite the best efforts of dedicated staff.
