Fundraising cyclists leave Bradford on second leg

CYCLISTS aiming to raise £3,000 for the Morning Star set off from Bradford to Manchester on Saturday.

The Sam Watts brigade of 10 cyclists and four back-ups, which is named for the veteran Merseyside labour and trade union activist and communist, made their name last year after cycling from London to the left-wing Fete de l’Humanite in Paris.

This year they are undertaking a sponsored three-leg ride, which started with a trek from Manchester to the Durham Miners’ Gala on the weekend of July 11.

The third leg is planned across London.

The cyclists are appealing for sponsors to help raise funds for the Morning Star Fighting Fund.

Cheques should be made payable to Merseyside Morning Star Supporters Group and sent to Pedalling4Progress, 343 Fairfield Road, Droylsden, Manchester M43 6EB.

The group website is at www.pedal4progress.wordpress.com.
