FUGITIVE ferry boss Yoo Byung Eun has been denied asylum by a foreign country, prosecutors investigating last month’s deadly sinking said today.
An anonymous person contacted the unidentified embassy on behalf of Mr Yoo, the head of the family behind Chonghaejin Marine.
The firm owned and operated the Sewol, which capsized and sank on April 16 with the loss of around 300 lives, most of them schoolchildren.
Mr Yoo sparked a nationwide manhunt after ignoring a summons last month. Authorities have offered £300,000 for information leading to his arrest.
He is wanted for questioning on possible charges of embezzlement and criminal negligence over the extent to which the disaster was caused by poor safety standards and regulatory violations.
Five Chonghaejin staff have already been arrested.
