A LABOUR MP was able to go to Parliament for the first time yesterday after recovering from a battle with breast cancer.
Thangam Debbonaire was diagnosed just weeks after overturnning an 11,000 Lib Dem majority to Bristol West.
But she was greeted with hugs and kisses from fellow Labour MPs as she took her place on the green benches for Justice Questions on International Women’s Day.
There were loud cries of “Hear, hear” from all sides of the House as Labour MP Graham Allen welcomed her.
Tory Justice Secretary Michael Gove said: “We’re all delighted to see the member for Bristol West back in her place and fully recovered, I hope.”
The Star reported in January how the MP was given the all clear days before being promoted to the shadow front bench.
Ms Debbonaire, who was previously a professional cellist, said she was “thrilled to bits” to be made a shadow culture minister by leader Jeremy Corbyn.
