Women’s Football: Jayne Ludlow lost her first match in charge of the Wales women’s team yesterday, going down 1-0 to France B at the Istria Cup in Croatia.
Montpellier striker Marina Makanza’s 38th-minute goal settled a closely fought contest after the French had struck the woodwork twice in the opening 10 minutes.
Wales continue their campaign against Bosnia-Herzegovina tomorrow.
Manenti: Only I can sell Parma
Football: Parma president Giampietro Manenti told any potential buyers on Tuesday to contact him and not Mayor Federico Pizzarotti.
Pizzarotti is reportedly attempting to auction off the club behind Manenti’s back and the club president is far from pleased.
The Italian club are currently £145 million in debt and haven’d paid their players since July, with Pizzarotti threatening to close down the stadium if they don’t cough up.
Wigan players to punish themselves
Rugby League: Wigan players will be punished for handling errors by being forced to complete 50 press-ups.
Warriors coach Shaun Wane has introduced the new rule, which was proposed by the players themselves, after a series of knock-ons that contributed to their surprise 22-20 defeat at Hull KR on Sunday.
“I try different methods,” Wane said. “The players have come up with that one and I’m going to go with that.”
