Charlotte Edwards knows South Africa will be a lot better in the second Twenty20 Test today at Wantage Road.
The England captain led her side to a comfortable nine-wicket victory in the first game on Monday in Chelmsford, restricting the Proteas to 89-4 before Edwards herself made an unbeaten 62 as the side finished 91-1.
But Edwards is expecting a much tougher match in Northampton, despite the two sides meeting in the ICC World Twenty20 World Cup earlier this year and England coming out on top.
She said: “We want to play our best cricket. If we bowl a team out for 90 and we get it, that is a clinical performance and that is all we can control.
“I’m sure the South Africans are going to come back hard at us at Northampton. They are a good young team who I am sure are going to improve.”
Speaking about her own performance in the crushing victory over the tourists, she added: “I am hitting the ball well. It is important when you are in this kind of form that you continue to do that and not give your wicket away.
“I keep telling myself keep batting and I guess I will bear the fruits, which I have done.
“Hopefully I can carry this form into the rest of the games come Wednesday and Sunday.”
Seamer Katherine Brunt looked impressive on her return and Edwards is happy to see her back in the side.
“She is chomping at the bit to get out there and get back to her best,” she added.
