THE TITLE of this film’s a misnomer. This crass collation of racist, sexist, homophobic and witless drivel is incurably flaccid.
I’ve heard more laughs at a post-mortem than at the press screening.
What we witness is LA tycoon James (Will Ferrell) — who claims he attended school in London with the Murdochs and Bin Ladens — getting framed for embezzlement and fraud, arrested and sentenced to time in San Quentin.
While waiting to go to jail, he hires his car washer Darnell (Kevin Hart), who he believes is an ex-jailbird, to teach him how to survive in prison. What follows are some of the most distasteful jokes you could hope to miss.
There are more “f” words than even Channel 4 could pray for, homophobia is rampant and even the most zealous KKK member might consider the outpouring of racial ranting just a tad overdone.
Presumably Ferrell’s followers — and judging by his unwarranted smugly self-satisfied performance, he’s among them as his own biggest fan — will have fun.
Good luck to them.
