Tories aim to liquidate workers’ power

PUBLIC law professor Keith Ewing blasted the Tories yesterday for attempting to “liquidate the power of the public-sector unions” with their proposals in the Trade Union Bill.

“They are doing this through removing financial security, workplace representation and the right to strike” which coincides with Chancellor George Osborne’s announcement of a public-sector pay freeze, he said.

Speaking to delegates at a conference to campaign against the Trade Union Bill, Mr Ewing also warned that the Bill was designed to undermine trade unions’ ability to fund opposition to the Tories by attacking the political fund.
