Courts keep up revenge porn fight

THE crackdown on “revenge porn” is continuing apace days after the first conviction under new laws on sharing sexually explicit images without consent.

Jason Asagba, 21, of north-east London was thought to be the first convicted under the laws on Monday after posting intimate pictures of a 20-year-old from Reading on social media. He pleaded guilty to the offence in May, just days after the laws came into force. He will be sentenced on August 7.

Other cases continue, with Luke Brimson, 29, from Bristol due in court next week on revenge porn charges.

And 23-year-old Jesse Hawthorne from south Wales admitted to one count of disclosing a private sexual photograph or film with the intention of causing distress to magistrates yesterday. He will learn his fate next month.
