Energy firms’ service ‘worse than Ryanair’

Energy firms replaced notorious cheapskate air firm Ryanair at the foot of a Which? customer service league of shame yesterday.

Thousands of members of the public were approached by the consumer group to list their pet hates and gripes with the corporations that now dominate our lives.

Among the biggest complaints were automated phone systems and being “passed around” call-centre staff.

Privateer Npower propped up the table of big-name firms published by the consumer group’s annual survey — but fellow “big six” power companies didn’t fare much better.

Scottish Power came second from bottom with a satisfaction rating of 58 per cent.

Which? executive director Richard Lloyd said: “The big six energy companies have now hit rock bottom for customer service and, with record high levels of complaints, it is clear just how far they still have to go to put things right for their customers.”
