RMT to join strike over all-night Tube

RAIL union RMT confirmed yesterday that members will join Aslef in a 24-hour strike against plans for an all-night Tube service next month.

Members working for London Underground will walk out from 6.30pm on Wednesday August 5, with drivers stopping work from 9pm, in the long-running dispute.

An ongoing overtime ban also continues.

RMT general secretary Mick Cash said: “The unity and determination of staff across London Underground in the dispute over night Tube, the imposition of the ‘rosters from hell’ and the destruction of any semblance of work-life balance remains rock solid.

“RMT also remains in dispute over the axing of 850 station staff jobs, cuts which make a mockery of the safe delivery of the night Tube in just a few weeks’ time.”

Aslef said on Monday that its members would strike on August 5. TSSA and Unite, also involved in the row, have yet to announce their next move.
