CWU Conference: Warnings given over ‘dangerous’ Ukip

TRADE unionists should not be fooled by the rhetoric of “downright dangerous” Ukip, CWU president Beryl Shepherd warned yesterday.

Ms Shepherd said the union’s objectives would be “wasted” and its policies “much harder to deliver if we wake up on May 7 to anything other than a Labour victory.”

“It is a sobering moment when we hear Ukip supporters trying to endear themselves to the working class and even more sobering to hear that some people are persuaded by their rhetoric,” she said.

Ms Shepherd warned Ukip, led by former City slicker Nigel Farage, is “not the party of the working class” calling them anti-women, anti-diversity and anti-NHS.
