Manchester United were left red-faced when a website error gave fans 60 per cent off everything on the online store, including the latest home and away shirts.
The new kit went on sale at the start of the summer and is retailed at £55 but was seen on the official club store at £22.
And fans wasted no time in snapping up a handful of items, which is said to have cost the club over £200,000 in lost revenue.
The error happened while fans were up during the early hours of Thursday morning watching United dismantle LA Galaxy in a 7-0 victory.
And in a double delight for supporters, they were able to purchase the entire kit, including shorts and socks, for £37 instead of paying £92.
Many fans had taken to Twitter to pass on the message and though the error was fixed by 8am, by then buyers had taken full advantage of the discounted items.
While some fans had their orders cancelled by the club, around 4,000 lucky supporters will receive their discounted goods.
One fan tweeted: “Just bought over £200 worth of gear. Would have been over well over twice that much!”
A club statement read: “United Direct, the club’s official online megastore, which is run by our e-commerce partner Kitbag, sent out communications which contained details of an erroneous discount code to our fans around the globe — this offer has now ended.
“United Direct will honour all consumer orders placed using this discount code, an approach which is fully endorsed by the club.”
But under European Union Law, the club had no choice but to give fans what they ordered.
