Palestine: Lorry attack leaves four Israeli officer cadets dead

FOUR Israeli soldiers — three female and one male — were killed in east Jerusalem yesterday when a Palestinian lorry driver rammed his vehicle into a group of occupation troops.

The driver was shot dead by a military instructor escorting the officer cadets, who had all just dismounted from a bus.

Security cameras showed the lorry hitting the soldiers at speed and then reversing as though to line up a second attack.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who visited the scene of the attack with Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman, said that the driver had been identified and, according to all the signs, he was a supporter of the Islamic State.”

He claimed that there “definitely could be a connection” with recent similar vehicle assaults in France and Germany.

Mr Netanyahu said that occupation forces had blockaded Jabel Mukaber, the east Jerusalem neighbourhood where the lorry driver lived, and were planning other measures to prevent any repetition
