Future green jobs mulled

SALFORD in Greater Manchester could gain 4,500 jobs if it opted for “green” energy production, an environmental group claimed yesterday.

The area is currently blighted by controversial experimental “fracking” exploration sites, which campaigners say have created just 210 jobs.

Jobs creation through renewable energy will be on the agenda at the launch next week of a report entitled One Million Climate Jobs.

“It will create more jobs than fracking” said Martin Porter of Frack Free Greater Manchester.

nThe event is at Manchester’s Friends Meeting House on Tuesday November 18.
