Sailors haul AirAsia jet crash dead from the sea

An Indonesian warship recovered more than 40 bodies from the sea yesterday in the search for a missing AirAsia jet, a navy spokesman said.

“Based on navy radio, the warship Bung Tomo has retrieved 40 bodies and the number is growing,” said Manahan Simorangkir.

The head of the search mission said that definitive debris including an exit door from flight QZ8501 had been found during the search.

Six bodies had been discovered earlier about an hour-and-a-half’s flight from Surabaya.

The aircraft went missing after air traffic controllers lost contact with the pilot following its departure from Juanda international airport at Surabaya in East Java on Sunday.
