Sainsbury’s branches face Palestine protests over sale of Israeli goods

Palestine supporters will target Sainsbury’s stores across Britain on Saturday to protest against the supermarket’s sale of goods from Israel and the occupied territories.

Activists will lobby shoppers, urging them to lodge protests with Sainsbury’s bosses.

York Palestine Solidarity Campaign’s Terry Gallogly said: “Supporters will be challenging Sainsbury’s to end its absolute disregard for Palestinian human rights.

“In the face of the brutal massacres of thousands in Gaza we have seen a huge increase in boycott campaigning and new groups beginning campaigns targeting Sainsbury’s.

“We’ve noticed that Sainsbury’s have reintroduced the ‘Tell Sainsbury’ postcards at many stores — this is an easy and free way to ask people to send a message to Sainsbury’s — you can just pick up a pile of postcards from the store and then hand them out on the street.”

He said complaints could also be submitted to the to website tellsainsburys.co.uk.
