Londoners ‘howl for housing’

YOUNG trade unionists will “howl for housing” today as they demonstrate outside Labour’s London mayoral hustings.

London rents are so out of control that young people’s dream of buying their own home is out of the reach, argues GMB Young London’s Sam Gould.

The problem is made even worse with the severe lack of council and social housing, he said.

Mr Gould called on candidates to “offer some bold solutions.

“We in London need many more council homes, a living rent and proper regulation of landlords.”

The demonstration will take place at the University of Westminster in Marylebone Road from 5.30pm. The hustings start at 7pm.
