Wilfried Bony came off the bench to rescue a point for 10-man Swansea City in second half injury time in the 1-1 draw against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on New Years Day.
The R’s looked set to take all three points thanks to a spectacular long-range effort from Leroy Fer but Bony, who has been linked with a move to Manchester City, was on hand to ensure the Welsh side left London with a share of the spoils.
City had made a bright start to the game and were unlucky not to open the scoring early on as Gylfi Sigurdsson released Wayne Routledge.
Rob Green seemed to handle the ball outside the penalty area as he rushed forward, putting a halt to Routledge’s attack.
Fer gave Rangers the lead in the 20th minute with a stunning long-range effort, as City defenders failed to close him down, the Dutchman took full advantage of the time and space to blast the ball into the back of the net from 25 yards out.
Rangers top scorer Charlie Austin came close to netting his 13th of the season early in the second half but was denied by a combination of post and Lukasz Fabianski before Federico Fernandez and Sigurdsson both came close to getting the Swans back on level terms at the other end.
Swansea’s hopes of getting a draw looked to be over when Routledge was shown a straight red for lashing out at Karl Henry following a bad tackle.
But Bony hammered past Green in the second minute of added time to ensure the game finished all square.
