UCATT union members demonstrated yesterday outside Crossrail’s Holborn depot against the ATC (Alston, Tso, Costain) consortium.
There have been a raft of ongoing serious issues with ATC on the London project: intimidation and harrassment of workers, exhaustion of workers, workers not being paid or being incorrectly paid, and welfare facilities that Ucatt has called a “disgrace.”
Ucatt is calling for a completion bonus for civil engineering workers as the Crossrail project winds down in the next few months.
Though many of the office-based workers on the project have never set foot on the site, they are guaranteed bonuses, the union says.
A Ucatt spokesman said: “As the Crossrail project winds down, Ucatt wants to ensure that an open and fair process will be used as workers are made redundant.
“Meetings with workers and further action are both planned for the new year.”
