Corruption fight stepped up with old and new methods

CHINA’S anti-corruption drive stepped up a gear today as the Communist Party’s Central Commission for Discipline Inspection released contact details for all its national and province-level agencies and asked the public to come forward.

“Clean governance and strict management of the party matter to you and us. You are invited to take part and supervise us,” the discipline watchdog stated.

The new transparency bid includes the unveiling of an app on January 1 which allows people to track the progress of corruption investigations and look at how the commission deals with cases.

The app has been welcomed by China’s online community, with social media sites abuzz with messages from people keen to take part in the clampdown on corrupt officials that President Xi Jinping launched on coming to power.

Mr Xi vowed in his new year’s message to enforce the rule of law and “fasten the cage of regulation.”
