Hundreds turn out to resist cuts

MORE than 500 protesters marched through the Fife town of Dunfermline on Saturday to attend the People’s Assembly Against Austerity rally in the city’s Pittencrieff Park.

Scottish Co-operative Party chair Mary Lockhart praised the level of unity on show.

“To defeat the Tories we must have unity,” she said.

“The Tories seek to divide. They are using poverty as a political weapon. They want insecurity to paralyse the working class.

“But they won’t succeed. We will show that it’s the Tories who are the real threat to national security.”
