CRICKET: England will play the fourth one-day international of their forthcoming Sri Lanka tour a day later than initially scheduled.
The fourth match of seven, at Colombo’s Premadasa Stadium, has been put back to Sunday December 7.
Sri Lanka Cricket has informed the England and Wales Cricket Board of the switch, necessary because of religious observance of Poya Day on December 6.

CYCLING: 2010 Tour de France winner Andy Schleck yesterday announced his retirement from cycling due to a persistent knee injury.
Schleck, aged just 29, was a hugely successful Grand Tour rider who also finished as runner-up in France in 2009 and 2011.
Schleck also won the young rider classification at the Giro d’Italia in 2007.
Many will remember him for the amazing 60km solo attack on the Col de Galibier in 2011.

FOOTBALL: Everton defender John Stones could be sidelined for almost four months as he needs surgery on an ankle injury.
The 20-year-old pulled out of the England squad this week after he was carried off on a stretcher during the defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Specialists say the youngster requires an operation to fix the problem and that will rule out Stones until the new year.

FOOTBALL: Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren yesterday withdrew from Croatia’s squad with an abdominal injury.
The defender was due to play in Euro 2016 qualifiers against Bulgaria on today and Azerbaijan on Monday but sustained a problem in training which has ruled him out.
Lovren is set to return to Merseyside in the next couple of days, where he will undergo further assessment by the medical team at the club’s Melwood training ground.
