TRADE unionists crowded the streets of Wolverhampton yesterday on the third day of a “crocodile tears tour” to shame leading blacklisters in the construction industry — and there’s more to come.
Carillion HR chief Liz Keates was targeted after a seized database revealed her involvement in the blacklisting of over 100 workers.
Next Tuesday general union GMB will target Keir Group managers Paul McCreath and Kathy Almansoor in a demo in Sandy, Bedfordshire.
And the union will target Balfour Beatty manager Gerry Healey on Wednesday in a protest in Glasgow. The following day the tour will target Kevin Gorman of Harland Group in Aberdeen.
GMB southern regional officer Carolle Vallely said the Wolverhampton protest had been a success.
She said protesters had stood outside Carillion’s city centre HQ and spoken into megaphones about the damage Ms Keates had done, telling her that she had “destroyed workers’ lives.”
“We make no apology for naming and shaming,” Ms Vallely told the Morning Star.
