COMMUNIST Party parliamentary candidate Laura-Jane Rossington joined anti-blacklisting campaigners in a protest outside construction firm Kier’s Plymouth offices yesterday.

Activists from union GMB targeted the firm as part of its crocodile tears tour because former boss Danny O’Sullivan was involved in blacklisting workers. 

And today they will be taking the protest to Epsom race course, where the Jockey Club employs Gayle Burton, who has been named for blacklisting 162 workers when working for construction firm Costain.

Construction industry unions Ucatt, GMB and Unite are pursuing legal action to win compensation for blacklisted workers.

Ms Rossington, who at 18 is one of Britain’s youngest candidates for Parliament, is standing for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport.

“I was there to show solidarity,” she told the Star.

“As a communist I fully support the right of all workers to organise in trade unions and the right to strike.

“Together we will end the intolerable and unjust practice of blacklisting.”
