Trains pulled as strike looms

TRAIN companies have started cancelling bank holiday services due to a planned strike by Network Rail (NR) staff in a row over pay, even though talks are continuing.

The company said that it could not bank on unions calling off a planned 24-hour walkout from 5pm on Monday.

The two sides were in the third day of talks at the conciliation service Acas.

Members of rail unions RMT and TSSA have rejected a four-year pay deal of £500 followed by three years of rises in line with RPI inflation.
