Vergne leaves Toro Rosso

Formula One: Jean-Eric Vergne has announced he will not be driving for Toro Rosso next season, ending months of speculation over his future in Formula One.

He missed out on a promotion to parent team Red Bull, with his rookie team-mate Daniil Kvyat selected to take over from Sebastian Vettel.

Vergne, who has raced in 58 grands prix, may struggled to find another spot on the grid — only McLaren and struggling Caterham have yet to announce their drivers.

Bangladesh trounce weak Zimbabwe

Cricket: Bangladesh wrapped up their one-day series against Zimbabwe with a comfortable 124-run victory in Mirpur.

The Tigers were already leading the five-match series 2-0 and 95 from Anamul Haque plus contributions all down the order saw them post 297 for six.

The tourists never looked like chasing that down and lost wickets at regular intervals before being dismissed for 173 with 61 balls to spare.

Fraud watchdog targets Fifa

World Cup: The Serious Fraud Office has appealed for whistleblowers with information about bidding for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups to come forward.

“Plainly, the Serious Fraud Office welcomes any additional information that may assist in determining whether a criminal investigation should be opened,” general counsel Alun Milford wrote in a letter to Tory MP Damian Collins.
