Stafford Hospital death inquest halted in witness-seeking bid

A coroner halted the second inquest into the death of a 20-year-old man related to scandal-hit Stafford Hospital yesterday to trace possible further witnesses.

Telecommunications engineer John Moore-Robinson collapsed at his home hours after being discharged from the hospital in 2006 with an undiagnosed ruptured spleen after a mountain biking accident.

His parents, Janet and Frank Robinson, wept as Catherine Mason said she had to stop the new inquest, which opened on Monday.

“We are eight years in now and we are still being told there has not been full disclosure,” said Mr Robinson.

“The trust now needs to go back and do a lot of soul-searching. They have destroyed our lives and are still continuing to do so.

“We are speechless, we are shocked, totally shocked.”
