Everton are set to confirm the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea for a club record fee.
Lukaku will sign a five-year-deal with the club he spent last season on loan with, where he scored 16 goals in 33 appearances.
The Merseyside club have moved quickly for the striker, who was meant to be joining his Chelsea teammates in Holland to start his pre-season after his post-World Cup holidays.
But the 21-year-old posted a picture of himself on a plane with the caption “time to write a new chapter” before Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini posted on Instagram a picture of the pair battling for the ball last season along with the comment “CONGRATULATIONS to my man @romelu_lukaku17 on signing for @officialeverton!! Big future ahead.”
With the recent arrivals of Diego Costa and Didier Drogba at Stamford Bridge, the Belgian striker found himself further down the pecking order and has decided to continue his footballing education under Roberto Martinez.
Lukaku signed for Chelsea two years ago from Anderlecht for a fee of £12 million but found it difficult to break into the first team squad in London.
