Welsh drone airfield besieged by murder victims

Campaigners tie photos of people killed by drones to testing site

Peace campaigners will today tie photos of people murdered by drones to the fence of a Welsh airfield where the weapons are to be tested.

The protest at the Llanbedr airfield comes after defence privateer QinetiQ declared last week that it is “open for business” for drone testing.

The Harlech site will become the fourth in Wales where the death drones are tested from 2015.

A seperate protest will be held at the Aberporth site where drones are already flown.

Spokesperson for peace campaign Cymdeithas y Cymod Anna Jane said: "We are worried that Wales is being used more and more as a practice ground for killing.

“With Epynt, Valley, Aberporth and now Llanbedr, the name of Wales will be associated with an intense training ground for killing techniques.”

Ms Jane said that she hoped their hard-hitting protest today would show that drones strikes are not a victimless military tactic.
