Mansion tax unleashes Klass war

Public launch fundraising campaign to help gobby millionaire cope with Labour policy

Mouthy millionaire Myleene Klass faced a public backlash yesterday after moaning about Labour plans for a mansion tax.

Ms Klass claimed that "grannies" living in houses "like a garage" would bear the brunt of Ed Miliband's policy when she appeared alongside him on ITV's Agenda programme on Monday evening.

When challenged by Mr Miliband, she launched into an angry rant, saying: "You can't just point at things and tax them."

Social media users responded yesterday by launching a fundraising drive to help the pampered former pop star pay the tax.

"Mylene is a struggling mother with a fortune of £11 million who needs our help," read the message on the Just Giving website urging the public to "give generously."

But in a twist, the Political Scrapbook blog later revealed that Ms Klass would be exempt.
