Welsh Premier League: Late winner puts Saints clear

Oswestry’s The New Saints moved five points clear at the top of the Welsh Premier League after a stoppage time winner gave them the points at Airbus UK on Saturday.

Aberystwyth remain in second place despite losing 6-3 at Newtown, who climbed into third.

Luke Boundford bagged a hat-trick for Newtown but Chris Venables’s double for Aberystwyth kept him clear as the league’s top goalscorer.

Carmarthen won 2-1 at bottom of the table Bangor and Rhyl took the points at Bala, who have now lost their last three games.

Cefn Druids beat Prestatyn 4-0 while Port Talbot and Gap Connah’s Quay shared the spoils in yesterday’s 1-1 draw.
