Deluded Iain Duncan Smith puts blame for jobless on Miliband

A RISE in unemployment earlier this year was the fault of Ed Miliband, Iain Duncan Smith brazenly claimed yesterday.

The Work and Pensions Secretary said that polls predicting a Labour win at the general election had hit market confidence in the first part of 2015.

He made the claim when challenged by his Labour shadow Stephen Timms in the Commons.

Mr Timms accused the Tory minister of not doing enough to tackle youth unemployment.

“The figures you talked about going up, in a sense I am not surprised — these cover the period in the run to the last election and given what the opposition were saying and looking at the polls, as some of the businesses may have done, it’s no surprise to me they may have held back,” IDS replied.
