More than 1,000 march for Stand up To Cancer

More than 1,000 people took part in a night-time march against cancer at the weekend, led by a teenager fighting the disease for the second time.

The Cancer Research event through Edinburgh on Saturday night was part of the Britain-wide Stand Up to Cancer campaign.

Leon Rendle, 15, who is battling Ewing’s sarcoma — a rare bone cancer that affects fewer than 30 children in Britain every year — was chosen to lead it.

He said: “I’m proud to be a part of Scotland’s first March on Cancer.

“I hope everyone who saw us marching will be inspired to help create more tomorrows for people like me and my family by getting involved in the Stand Up To Cancer campaign and raising money for life-saving research.”
