Tory strategist Lynton Crosby linked to pollster for US drugs giant Pfizer, says Unite

Industry union Unite raised the alarm yesterday over Tory government links with rapacious US drugs giant Pfizer, currently attempting a takeover of British drugs firm AstraZeneca

Industry union Unite raised the alarm yesterday over Tory government links with rapacious US drugs giant Pfizer.

Unite assistant general secretary Tony Burke said AstraZeneca’s 7,000-strong workforce had a right to know about the links, since their future was threatened if Pfizer succeeded in its takeover bid.

Mr Burke referred to reports that Mark Textor, a pollster with close links to the Tory party, also had Pfizer as a client.

He added that Mr Textor’s business partner was Lynton Crosby, a strategist at the heart of the Tories’ election campaign.

“We want to knowz and we are sure that the public will want to know, what is the extent of the relationship between the government, Cameron’s paid strategists and Pfizer?” said Mr Burke.

“Has Cameron ever discussed the Pfizer bid with Crosby or Textor? It is time for the government to publish the details of any meetings it or its hired strategists have had with Pfizer.”
