US Democratic Party presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders extended his winning streak yesterday in the western state of Wyoming.
The left-wing outsider won the primary by an 11 per cent margin over Hillary Clinton, but the pair split the state’s 14 delegates to July’s Democratic National Convention equally.
Mr Sanders, who has now won seven of the last eight state contests, said the result was part of a shift since the campaign left the Deep South.
“Now that we are in the second half of this campaign, we are going to state after state which I think have a more progressive outlook,” he said. “We are in this race to win.”
Ms Clinton has a lead of nearly 700 convention votes, based on the pledges of unelected “superdelegates” who can change their mind before the convention.
