Miliband meets his Milifan

MILIFANDOM-CRAZE founder Abby Tomlinson had all her dreams come true yesterday when she was treated to lunch by her hero Ed Miliband, writes Luke James.

Seventeen year-old Ms Tomlinson started the #Milifandom social media campaign during the election in response to attacks on the former Labour leader from the right-wing press. It sparked a wave of supportive messages for Mr Miliband and even saw him mobbed by hen party on the campaign trail.

He repaid Ms Tomlison with lunch on Parliament’s terrace, praising her on Twitter for “starting something so highly improbable.”

But Mr Miliband’s popularity appears to have continued and he has this week started replying to messages from supporters on Twitter.

One Twitter user even revealed the Labour MP had left a voicemail for him at the request of his girlfriend, who collared him for a photo in London.

It is a further sign that Mr Miliband is determined to defy expectations that he should stay away from Parliament and politics following the election loss.
