Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston yesterday reiterated that he will not sell the club while calling supporters who continue to criticise him “a busted flush.”
Seasiders fans have been at loggerheads with Oyston and his family since their five-year slide from the Premier League to League Two started in 2011 and supporters from both Blackpool and Blackburn are planning to boycott today’s FA Cup clash at Ewood Park in protest over their respective owners.
The gripe with Oyston’s handling of affairs at Bloomfield Road has turned vitriolic on occasion, with legal charges issued against some fans and the chairman himself having been punished by the Football Association following a foul-mouthed text exchange that came to light in December 2014.
However, Oyston, who was also subjected to a barrage of calls when his number was made public, has remained defiant in the face of such animosity and yesterday came out fighting against those who continue to protest against him at Bloomfield Road.
“They are people who have no alternatives whatsoever, nothing to offer,” he said.
“They just want to criticise, deride and abuse the proper fans who are coming into the ground.
“I’m sure they’ll get bored in time, the numbers are dwindling, the interest is dwindling, they are a busted flush.”
